Night Shots

I took the above view of the Superstition Mountain from Lost Dutchman State Park using the almost-full moon to illuminate the foreground as well as the mountain face in the distance. Here the stars have trailed with the time exposure, but there has been sufficient light to make it appear that it is almost a day-time shot. The thin white streak above the mountain summit is probably an earth satellite moving during the time the image was being exposed. Lost Dutchman State Park is about 5 air miles from my home.

The above night view of Superstition Mountain was taken from Lost Dutchman State Park, but with a shorter exposure than the previous picture. Notice there is much less trailing of the stars in this image than in the previous one.

The above image shows the Pleiades rising behind saguaros. I took this photograph at Picketpost Mountain.

The above image shows the crescent moon and lights of the city on the valley floor, as seen from my front driveway.

The view above shows the valley floor with its many lights, as seen from my front driveway. A glass prism was placed in front of the camera lens.

The above image shows the Milky Way, which I photographed by shooting down into a wide-angle mirror that is similar to those used for security in stores. I took this image at Picketpost Mountain, which probably is one of the darkest sites within about ten miles from Gold Canyon, AZ.

The above image shows the night sky as seen from my driveway looking north, with Superstition Mountain in the foreground.

The above image shows the stars on my eastern horizon rising above the foothill that is behind my house during an early summer evening, as seen from my back yard.

The above image shows the Milky Way nearly overhead during the early summer evening, as seen from my back yard.
